So I mentioned the XPORT 360 and how it works well, but installation is a different matter. For 360 stuff, there’s no issue, the included software and instructions are fine. However, although it claims to read “Xbox 1 Memory Cards” there is a caveat hidden in the readme file – it will only work with Microsoft and Datel cards. For those of us with other brands (I have a MadCatz one) – the drivers won’t install properly. Luckily, with a little clever editing, we can make it all good – the drivers supplied will actually work with any memory card. Follow the instructions below if your Xbox 1 Memory Card isn’t being recognized.
- Plug the card in, you should get a “Install Drivers” dialog from Windows. Follow the instructions, being sure to search the install CD. If it works, great, your card is OK and you can skip the rest of this guide. If not (you get a “No suitable drivers could be found” message, read on.
- Go to device manager and find the “Unknown Device” – this is your memory card. Right click and get properties. Hit the details tab and you should see a weird string something like this:
USB⁄VID_0738&PID_45075&36C701F9&0&7
Make a note of the VID and PID numbers (0738 and 4507 in this example). These numbers are the key!
- Now, open the Datel install CD and copy the files “usbio.sys” and “xport 360.inf” to an empty directory on your hard drive. Open the inf file in notepad and look for the section like this:
%S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB⁄VID_045E&PID_028D&MI_00 %S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB⁄VID_045E&PID_028D&MI_01 %S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB⁄VID_040b&PID_6520 %S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB⁄VID_045E&PID_0280 %S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB⁄VID_05e3&PID_8001 %S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB⁄VID_05fd&PID_9001 %S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB⁄VID_05fd&PID_9011 %S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB⁄VID_05fd&PID_DBAE
This is the list of cards the drivers will work with. We need to add our new card to this list. Copy the last line and change the VID and PID numbers to those we wrote down in step 2. So, for my card, I added this line:
%S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB⁄VID_0738&PID_4507
- Now, remove the memory card, open device manager again and delete the Unknown Device. Reconnect the memory card and you should get the “Install Drivers” box again. This time, point it to the folder containing the two files we copied (including the edited .inf file).
- That’s it! The drivers should install and you can use your card with the Datel software.
This was really helpful and super easy to do! Thanks for the tip.
Yo Adam. THANK YOU man! This page was of great help.
That was stupid easy! Thanks for this info.
THANK YOU!!. the people from there website (codejunkies.com) have not replied to me!
Does the Xport 360 allow you to transfer movies you’ve downloaded from the marketplace & if so, what format are they in? (ie can you burn those movies to a DVD?)
Thanks,
Josh
Excellent!!! Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I was pulling my hair out until I found this. I was using a MadCatz card. This worked. Thanks
Wonderful! Thank you! Got the memory card working on WinXP32. No luck with Vista64 though, but that is not a big deal as all I need is a few gamesaves, and I am done with Xbox1.
Queston: My Xport 360 won’t recognize the Xbox 360 memory card but it will read the Xbox1 memory card. My Xbox1 card is made by datel and the 360 card isn’t. Does the same process work with the 360 card?

many thanks.
xport won’t read my usb. i read the “readme” and followed all the instructions but, towards the end it says “10. Locate the “XPort 360.inf” file, usually found in “C:\Program Files\Datel\XPort 360″.”. i searched all through my computer but it doesn’t have the “XPort 360.inf” file. can you please send me a link for just the “XPort 360.inf” file. i have been trying to do this for about an hour. thank you very much.
