On October 17th 2009 I’m going to be taking part in the Extra Life sponsored video game marathon to raise money for pediatric cancer research and treatment at the Texas Children’s Hospital. This is a 24 hour event, meaning I’m going to be playing games from 8am EST on Saturday all the way through to 8am EST Sunday. I’m doing it a little differently in that I’ll be playing 24 different games, one every hour, to try and keep it interesting. Keep checking back for updates.

Hopefully I’ll have plenty of supporters and helpers on hand to keep me awake and caffeinated, and of course getting lots of cash for a great cause will be a motivator. That’s where you step in! To try and encourage some bigger donations, I’m throwing myself at your mercy. Anyone who donates a minimum of just $1 per hour (that’s $24 total) will be able to choose one of the games I play. It can be anything (subject to certain logistical restrictions, below) and you can even choose a time slot. Want to see me play an hour of minesweeper at 2am? Now you can! The table below lists the current nominated games – first come first served. Any slots not filled by sponsors will be chosen by me closer to the date.

- Must be playable on a system I own: Xbox 360, Wii (& Gamecube), PS3 (& PS2), PC, Mac, DS, PSP, GBA, iPhone
- I need to be able to get hold of a copy at a reasonable price (I’m not going to spend $60 on new games – the money is better off going to the charity!). If I can get it used for cheap, or if you can lend me a copy, or if I can rent it – that’s fine. Even better if I already have it!
